Our Fishing Rodeo usually takes place every year in September; however, the date we had set for 2008 was the same date Hurricane Ike decided to hit the Texas coast.  During our 2008 planning phase, we projected and had a rain out date set in case of inclement weather.  We meet as a group after Ike and toured the area in hopes of continuing our tournament efforts.  After seeing the devastation IKE left behind, we elected to cancel the event at that time out of respect and safety for everyone.

Once we made the decision to cancel our event, we scrambled to see what we could do as an organization to help area hurricane victims. We put our heads together and decided to contact all of our sponsors who contributed to our 2008 event and we shared our ideas of giving the donations we received back to the community. They were all behind us 100%.  Our goal and ultimate plan was to find area children that lost their show animals due to Hurricane Ike.

After a little hard work, we located three children who lost their animals to the hurricane. The result was the replacement of one show pig, one show lamb, and one show heifer. We presented each of these students with enough money for them to purchase new Ag animals and have a fresh beginning.

This year, our event will take place August 21, 2010 at: SURFSIDE MARINA - 827 GULF ROAD
Surfside Beach, Texas 77451

Surfside Marina is a first class facility, along with first class hospitality. They are located just a few minutes from the Texas Gulf’s beautiful beaches and great fishing.

Our Captains Meeting/Dinner will take place Friday August 20th and Saturday August 21st will be a day of fishing for everyone. We will have a kids  fishing tournament from the docks at Surfside Marina, Food, tournament awards, door prizes, raffles, silent, and live auctions. We will also have great music and plenty of room to dance if you would like.

In 2007, Hold’em & Hit’em lost one of our founding Presidents and great friends. Our fishing rodeo is in honor of him.
