The Hold’Em & Hit’Em Club’s Annual Golf Classic was envisioned and initially began in 1999 by Russell Montgomery who served as the first Chairman of the event.  The first classic was played at Bear Creek Golf World’s Master course with an attendance of 69 players.

The second year the Classic was moved to Pine Crest Golf Club.  With an increase in participation came our silent and live auctions to increase our scholarship fund for the students we support through continuing educational opportunities.

In 2001, the Classic relocated back to the Bear Creek Golf World’s Masters Course and has been held on their outstanding course since then.  John Mathew, our second Chairman of the event, negotiated the move and the event was scheduled for this course until 2006.

In 2006, Craig Burkman took over as Chairman of the tournament and the club had it's largest turn out of players, sponsors and money raised to date for our classic. After the great response in 2006 it was decided that the tournament would move in 2007 to Longwood Golf Club, in order to give us more room to grow with 27 holes and over 200 players.

As our Golf Classic matures, we see continued growth and participation by a very diverse group interested in the very same principles and ideas of supporting youth, charity, and continuing education of the Metro Houston Counties students as held by the Hold’Em & Hit’Em Club.
